Create Simple Table in Wordpress For External Input form

I redesigned a site which includes a wordpress blog. What I'm trying to is to add a simple table to the wp database using their api, but I want the values to come from a form that is external to the wp blog. I'm not unfamiliar with using sql statements but I've never created a live table and not using wp api. I want to make sure I code it correctly and securely. I understand that there is now sqli which I've never used and I would like to use that. Is it possible to have the form data to go to the wp database? I can provide the html code for the form and php processing code if necessary. Thanks.
