android device monitor (avd) will not start

First I did found a lot of questions to this topic but none that had my particular problem. So here is my setup and the error message:

I use linux mint 17, android-studio 1.0.1 and jdk1.8.0_11. Everything is working fine but when I try to open avd in android studio I get:

so obviously something is going wrong, but I have no idea. I noticed that there are two backslashes in this line:

-jar /media/maw/86a2c74b-3fa7-482d-873c-605156627ac2/opt/sdk/tools/lib/monitor-x86//plugins

is this the problem?

I do not understand, why everything else is working but not this particular tool. Can please somebody help. Thank you a lot.
