Replace field name in form validation message

I have a field name called 'Confirmpassword' and when I validate it from a form it displays message: 'Confirmpassword cannot be blank. Submit'

I would like to change text of Confirmpassword in that message. I know I can create custom messages, but isn't there a more generic way to do this ?
