why i'm unable to select option through jquery

i'm finding it difficulty to selectoption from jquery.

i'm using simple select, but i'm using some javaScriptplugin which adds some extra code.

i don't want to remove those extra code. but want to select option using jquery.

NOTE: Please don't change htmlcode. because extra codes are dynamically added by some javascript plugin.

//$('select>option:eq(4)').attr('selected', true);
