C# software with database without needing a server

I'm new to C# development so am currently at the beginning stage of gathering reading material but my ultimate aim is to create software that works without the internet and will enable the user to enter data into various forms which will result in it being saved to a database as well as being able to grab data from the database and output it to forms for reading/editing however I do not really want to make a server a requirement for the end user. would SQLite be suitable? and would I be better off using SQL or LINQ?

Also regarding reading material, are their any books that focus on this sort of work/projects? I was told the HeadFirst books are quite good but the one I skimmed through in a shop dealt with games rather than WPF with a database.
