Okay, so the one commonality of all the bar code scanner applications I've seen is they take an image of the barcode. After that, how do they process that image? A normal bar code scanner in the store uses a red light to essentially gather information from the black bars, but how would an app replicate that? Would it use some software to translate the bar code? and if so, how would one go about learning that type of thing? I apologize if this isn't the appropriate place, everywhere else I've asked this question I haven't been able to get an answer.

The data can be encoded in the barcode, when you scan barcode with iPhone bar code scanner applications, the scanner can decode the data which is saved in barcode, and show the information according to orders.
