How to create a Messaging System in Asp.net?

To All. I am working on my final year project which is a Social Networking Website.

I am in 3rd phase in which i am desiging a Eessaging system but i am seriously stucked, how to achieve sending and recieving of messages at runtime.

The basic layout for message box which i have created is like a List box for friend list, Text area with Textbox and Send Button.

Somehow, if i achieve to retrieve Users Friend List from database, the problem area is on btnSend.Click how to make an interaction between both parties.
