Huffman coding of residuals of an image

I have developed a 2-D image modeling algorithm using system identification. The algorithm returns the parameters of the model and the residuals after reconstructing the image. If I want to compress the image, I need to encode the residuals along with the parameters of the model. Is there a Huffman coding function that can encode the residuals of the image? Thanks, Jose
