make twitter bootstrap work with will_paginate

I made will_paginate work fine. I am trying to hook up twitter bootstrap to make the pagination links look pretty. When I insert the code that I'm instructed to, my single-line will_paginate links become a bulleted list of links.

becomes BootstrapPagination::Rails %> or I guess more modern:

I get the vertical bulleted listing either way. As far as things I've tried- a couple days of googling, and a dozen or so uneducated experiments. Now, please tell me how stupid I am.
