UITableView displays header at random position

I have a problem with the table view in my app.

The set up is very simple: Each cell has a UIButton and a UITextView as its content view:

Also when the user clicks on one of the buttons I am revealing a UIDatePicker in the row below it. Now up until here everything is working fine, except for one thing. That is that the table view is displaying a header/footer view at a random position in the table view (see screenshot, the part between the red lines).

Does anyone have an idea on what might cause this strange behavior and how to solve it?
