Debugging Google Plus Sign In (Android Studio)

So I'm trying to incorporate Google+ Sign in on Android. It works perfectly well with my release variant. Able to click the button, choose an account, give access and sign in.

However whenever I swtich to my debug variant and setup breakpoints through Android Studio and debug it I get an "Internal Server Error" toast message just after selecting a user account.

To note I have already created the Google Project Console's Client ID's for both my release and debug variants with respective SHA1 keys.
