How to reformat phone numbers with Lync URI within Outlook using VBA

we use Lync Enterprise Voice at work but very rarely do I receive an email where the phone numbers are formatted correctly with the Lync tel: URI to enable automated calling.

I would like to use VBA so that whenever I open an email, any phone numbers are reformatted to use the Lync URI so that I can simply click on the phone number to send it to Lync. I have tried and failed to keep the entire email in its original format with the numbers changed :(

How can I find the phone numbers (of which there may be more than one) in the email, remove any spaces and prepend each with tel: before making it a clickable URL?
