Migrate pygame game to ruby

I'd like to migrate a game I coded using Python and PyGame to Ruby (as an exercise, now that I'm learning Ruby).

Which is the recommended gem to use? RubyGame? Does it has equivalents for PyGame primitives? or it is more low level lib? Is RubyGame mantained?

Other alternative I'm thinking of is gosu? Is it similar to PyGame?

Am I asking to much and I'll have to recode from scratch?
