How to make a scroll bar non-visible

Hello I am working on a pop up that when displayed needs a scroll bar as the main content behind. I hide the background scroll bar when I open the pop up and show the back content scroll bar when I close the pop up on the same time I hide the pop up scroll bar. The problem is this action push the main content to de right because of the scroll bar space. I want to make the background scroll bar non visible and still keep its space so no more background pushing, Is it possible ?
