Populating view with template like pattern in Android

I'm new to Android devolpment ( but not to Java ) and I'm trying to figure out how to replicate a pattern that I use in front-end web development with javascript and HTML.

In web application development it's a common use to use template engines and JSON (fecthed from the database) to easely populate views.

I wanted to know if there is something similar in Android.
