I am currently looking to password protect a directory on a website I'm building and was hoping to find a 3rd party plug and play solution - however, that has proved more difficult than I thought.

Looking for a service as simple as:

1. Create account on website of service provider


2. Submit a list of usernames/passwords


3. Generates javascript/html snippet to insert in website

I can't imagine something like this doesn't exist. I've looked at OAuth, but with my understanding of what that's used for it doesn't seem like a fit.

Preferably I'd rather not use .htaccess or PHP to solve this solution - ideally javascript/html is what I'm looking for.

Anybody know of a service that fits that description? Or if OAuth can actually be used in that manner?
