Laravel 5 : Why is there a lot of dependencies to download when installing laravel-ide-helper?

I've just freshly installed Laravel 5 via PhpStorm 8 (that uses composer.phar) using the Default option and --prefer-dist. If not mistaken, I never needed to download that many stuffs when trying to install barryvdh's laravel-ide-helper in Laravel 4.* and it can be done in few minutes.

However, in Laravel 5, it is taking around 30-40 minutes and has downloaded 100++MB of data. I ran this command :

composer require barryvdh/laravel-ide-helper -vvv --profile

Also, this is the 4 or 5th time I have restarted my installation of the ide-helper because before that it got stuck at some point downloading. I don't really have the luxury of time. Is this the norm or did I do something wrong?
