File Permission on Amazon AWS EC2

I have been trying to upload files via FileZilla FTP, and the error message has always been "open for write: permission denied". I have tried several options, creating new user which did not even show up and i could not login with the user i created. I also tried granting ubuntu which is my default user all access. Still nothing worked.

Anyone here who can solve my problem, I be be glad
