How to create a new record each month for primary id

I am working with 11g and creating a procedure that needs to add a new record to a table for each group ids. My table has a group of company records for each month. Example would be that Company A for 201403 has values for that month. The table would also have the previous months record for that company. What I need to do is add just one record for each group of companies for the new month. Right now I am just trying to conceptualize how this can be done. Does anybody have some suggestions that I can do to achieve this?
