Controlling list visualisation in IPython

IPython decides to show lists vertically (and forces you to scroll a lot) when these are wider than the current screen. See below

In [1]: list(range(20))
Out[1]: [0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19]

In [2]: list(range(30))
Out[2]: 
[0,
 1,
 2,
 3,
 4,
 5,
 6,
 7,
 8,
 9,
 10,
 11,
 12,
 13,
 14,
 15,
 16,
 17,
 18,
 19,
 20,
 21,
 22,
 23,
 24,
 25,
 26,
 27,
 28,
 29]

Whereas Python shows them always horizontally. Is there a way to control this behaviour in IPython? I couldn't find anything online... maybe I've been using bad keywords.
