I would like to create a regex syntax that matches phonetic patterns. It would be used to apply phonological rules to word strings and generate phonetic script.

Example:

\V for high front vowels like y and i

Phonological rule: /d/ -> [dz] / _ \V

Result: the sound d becomes dz in front of y or i

Phonemes would need to be stored somewhere, along with information about their phonemic features.

I have searched around but could not find the proper keywords. I do not know where to begin and am not set on using a specific tool/language.

How do I accomplish this?
