How to load training data in a Neural Network

I have been following Andrew NG's course on Machine learning but I am using python for implementing the algorithms. I am developing a Neural Network based robot and have successfully written the code for data provided in exercises but the original training data is in the form of jpeg images and correct outputs in a text file. I am not able to figure out how to train NN using this data and then saving the weights to use in my other code. Please give a solution or any other links where I can read more about this. P.s. I am using Numpy, scipy and Pil libraries
