ios: Using GroupMe API?

Has anyone had any experience using the groupme api? I'm just curious what you would use this api for.

Say for instance, you wanted to implement a chat system similar to what GroupMe does in your own iOS application. Would you be able to do this by using their api?

Does anyone know of any tutorials that go over using the GroupMe API? I have only found https://dev.groupme.com/tutorials which doesn't have many tutorials.
