Find cell phone number carrier in PHP via email validation

I need to figure out the carrier of cell phone numbers. I have a list of all the major know U.S. cell providers and their "Email to text" addresses. Do you think I could figure out a cell numbers carrier by combining the number with each of these addresses and testing to see if they exist with something like SMTP validation?
