Next hop is Router in IPV6

I am new to IPV6 and while reading IPV6 NDP protocol RFC Next Hop determination I have below mentioned doubt.

Suppose I want to send unicast NA ( Neighbour Adv) to destination D1 but D1 is not onlink.

As D1 is not on link I will try to reach D1 through default Router say R1.

So in above case I will send my NA message to Router R1.

My question is how Router will get information as my final destination is D1.
